Last month, we proudly celebrated the completion of a nearly 1.2 MW solar project at The Cloisters Apartments. As part of D.C.’s Solar for All program, this installation will cut electricity bills by 50% for 325 income-qualified residents over the next 15 years. This collaboration with New Columbia Solar, DOEE, and DCSEU represents a major step in delivering affordable clean energy to our community.
With 352 homes across 22 buildings, The Cloisters is now a leader in sustainable living, equipped with solar technology that prevents 943 tons of CO2 emissions annually—equal to planting 16,013 trees. This project is part of Horning’s broader commitment to sustainability, having installed solar panels on 40 roofs across 14 properties over the last seven years, generating 1.5 million kilowatt-hours annually.
At Horning, we believe sustainability should benefit both the environment and our residents. We’re proud to lead the way toward a greener, more affordable future for D.C.
